Free Powder Skiing and Perfect AccommodationBackcountry skiing just got easier with Canada's first backcountry ski area. It's free. Skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers welcome. Smithers is known for it's powder and great mountains. Now we've added a developed backcountry ski area with ten ski runs and five alpine bowls. Terrain for all abilities from super easy to big alpine lines. The skiing is free so spend a week with us at the Stork Nest Inn for only $295* per person. Includes a hearty breakfast and a bag lunch. Add downhill, cross-country skiing or skating on the lake to your week and you should be thoroughly played out. Owners Brian and Kym have 20 years backcountry experience in the Bulkley Valley. The day will incorporate avalanche awareness skills, socializing with appies and a warm fire at the top in the warming hut, and a general overview of the area. Meet at the Stork Nest Inn at 9 am or the Hanking Evelyn Parking lot at 10 am. For out of towners - take advantage of a reduced rate at the Stork Nest Inn starting at 79.95 and includes a hearty breakfast and bag lunch.
